I was reading a forum post the other day about people’s favorite moments in a game that I was playing when I realized that I didn’t really have any. That got me to thinking about what my favorite moment in gaming is in total, but it was hard. I really only have the one, and this is it. Read more »
I’m Not OCD… Except For When I Am
So for the most part I’m fairly relaxed about what I do at both work and home, but every so often I will have something trigger in the back of my mind that lets me know that something’s not how it’s supposed to be and that it MUST be corrected or all hell will break loose. I had a moment like that yesterday just before I left work.
Recently, I have been given the task of updating our company’s internal website which hadn’t been updated in about 30 months. I spent about a week or so working on getting my access to the site and once I did, I had one of those moments. You see, with Webpages, you are supposed to use CSS to determine how the page will lay out so that the whole site is laid out the same way. The way that this was built was how I built my first website, with Frames. Frames make it so you can target where content will appear by making frame sections and assigning different webpages to them, so to make one page it takes 3-4 (this one had 6).
Now, today, I have decided that that’s not going to fly and so I am going to rebuild the entire internal website from scratch and just copy the content over. Originally I quoted them as this being a project that will take me 1-2 days, but I told them to expect it to take two weeks. Looks like I will be working to hit that two week deadline, heh.
I don’t know what it is about me that makes me see stuff as wrong like this, but I figure that if it’s not right then someone might notice and I really don’t want my name on something like that. The funny thing is that only a few people will see this page, but even with that I want to make sure that when they go there that they are greeted with something that works well and easily, it’s just in my nature I guess.
My Thoughts on the new Diablo Game
So I didn’t go all nerd-crazy when the game came out, I ran the install and when I got home I jumped on for a few hours with my Sister In-Law, Katie, and then we played the game for a while. I think we got up to around L9 or so, and in that time we had a bit of fun, but there are a few issues that I’ve found with the game so far. Read more »
Ready Player One
I don’t get all nerd-crazy on a lot of books, but Ready Player One is definitely one that I was able to get excited about. The book takes place about 30 years into the future in a somewhat dystopian society (though not really) where everyone uses a haptic system to log into a fully virtual MMOG (Massive Multiplayer Online Game) and they use it for everything in their daily life, such as playing games, going to school, going to work, browsing the internet, or conducting meetings. Movies I’m Okay with Them Remaking
With the release of the Total Recall remake, I thought I would put in my two cents about what movies I think would be awesome to get a remake, or at least acceptable. Read more »
Movies That Will Trick Your Kids Into Liking Sci-Fi
For many nerds like me, I worry that my kids might not be as big of fans of the Sci-Fi genre that I am (which is unlikely with my Blu-ray collection). With that in mind, I decided to make a list of movies that I think would be a great introduction for kids to get into the Sci-Fi genre. Read more »
